Gold Food for Life Award

It was announced earlier this week that we had achieved a GOLD FOOD FOR LIFE AWARD! We are so proud of this achievement but what does it mean for you?

We have held the Bronze Food for Life Award for our traditional & Natural offers for the past two years, we have reached the Silver Award for our Originals offer at Warsash & now we have been awarded the Gold Catering Mark for our Originals menu at East Park Terrace, serving traditional British breakfasts & lunches alongside global favourites.

The guiding principles for the Soil Association’s Catering Mark enable providers to demonstrate that they provide fresh trustworthy food, that they source environmentally sustainable and ethical food, that they champion local food producers and that they make choosing healthy options as easy as possible.

The Soil Association’s Catering Mark provides an independent certification that food providers are taking steps to improve the quality of the food served.
What you need to achieve a Bronze award:
  • None of the ingredients used contain any harmful additives, no genetically modified foods and no trans-fats
  • Ensuring that at least 75% of our menu is freshly prepared on site.
  • All our meats exceed UK welfare standards, all eggs are from cage free hens.
  • Using seasonal produce.
  • Menus provide for dietary requirements

What you need to achieve a Gold award:
  • We use Organic foods, we serve organic; baked beans, pasta, tinned tomatoes, rice, noodles, flour, butter, cheddar & legumes.
  • We use freedom food pork sausages from Dingley Dell, these pigs are outdoor bred, reared & finished in the Suffolk sunshine. Their quality of life greatly exceeds that of most pigs. The RSPCA certifies produce with the freedom food label, ensuring that animals are cared for and can express their normal behaviour
  • Purchasing in season UK produce.
  • Purchasing sustainable fish
  • Reducing salt in meals
  • Encouraging customers to eat more fruit & vegetables & offering more non-meat options
As people become more concerned about where their meals come from, the Catering Mark enables providers to meet the demands for traceable, sustainable and healthy food. To read our previous achievements & accreditations please follow the links below:
