Halloween at The Dock

We were in full Halloween mode at The Dock this year with a lot of treats (but no tricks) for the Solent University students. The Dock was given a full Halloween makeover with spiders and cobwebs covering the counters and pumpkins grinning out at all of our customers. The traditional orange faces had been carved by our very own chefs.

Look out For The MSC Logo

Look out for the MSC logo on our menus as when you see this logo on our menus you'll know that our fish is MSC certified. All MSC labelled seafood comes from and can be traced back to, a sustainable fishery.

One of our most popular dishes is the Breaded Hake & Chips. The hake in this dish is MSC certified and as is a lot of our other fish dishes available from the Dock restaurant.

Look out for the MSC logo on our menus for the new term.

Happy Birthday Eco Ernie

Who is Eco Ernie?

Eco Ernie is a Southampton Solent University scheme which in 2013 celebrated its fifth year of cleaning up the streets in the Polygon area of the city centre with bespoke recycling collections.

It is run by Solent Students Union and community volunteers in partnership with Southampton Solent University, Southampton City Council, Bag It Up and local charities.

As this year was a special one Eco Ernie called upon the services of our very own Natalie McIntyre to produce a suitable birthday cake. The cake was a big success and I can tell you first hand that it tasted great!

The Food for Life Catering Award

Sodexo achieves Food for Life Catering Mark at Southampton Solent University. We have been awarded the prestigious Bronze Food for Life Catering Mark by the Soil Association for the contract here at Solent University.

The accreditation recognises restaurants and caterers that serve fresh food which is free from controversial additives and better for animal welfare.

Sodexo already holds the Food for Life Bronze Catering Mark for serving fresh and healthy meals in all of the UK primary schools where it operates.

Caterers with the Bronze Catering Mark serve seasonal meals which are freshly prepared and free from additives including MSG, tartazine and aspartame. No GM ingredients are used and all eggs are cage-free hens.
