On the 1st of July we are launching our first Amateur Photography Competition in which you will have the chance to have your work displayed on our 'Art Wall' which is situated to the left of the Solent Showcase gallery. We have 13 frames in total that will be used to display the winning images and not only that the overall winner will also win a £35 Gift Voucher from London Camera Exchange in Civic Centre Road and an Artisan hamper.
The competition has one theme and that is Southampton. A fantastic city steeped in history with an incredible mix of old and modern buildings and some lovely spacious parks, and all of that is just in the city centre! There is plenty of photographic inspiration across the city from Netley Abbey to the Western Docks, Southampton Common and beyond.
To make this a bit more fun we have split the competition into six categories. There will be two winnings photographs selected from each category and an overall winner. The categories are PEOPLE, LANDSCAPE, SOUTHAMPTON SELFIE, URBAN/STREET, JUNIORS (ages 5-10 and 11-16) and DIGITAL CREATIVE.

The competition launches on July 1st and ends on July 14th. The photos will be displayed on the Daily Echo website and you will get to vote on the OVERALL winner from a carefully selected 'Top 10' via a public vote/poll. The winners will be announced on Friday 28th. We can't wait to see what you submit! Happy snapping.
