International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia & Transphobia

Did you know? 1 in 6 lesbian, gay or bisexual people have experienced a hate crime or incident based on their sexuality over the last 3 years.

The seventeenth of May marked Sodexo's international day against homophobia, biphobia and transphobia. This year the theme surrounding it was Mental Health and Wellbeing and support went out all across Twitter with the hashtag #IDAHOBiT.

Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual people are 50% more likely than straight people to experience long term mental health problems (Stonewall 2016)
The international campaign for IDAHOBiT is to wear an item of purple clothing. This year, our staff wore a splash of purple to support the day against homophobia, biphobia and transphobia. Anything from sunglasses to ties and t-shirts was chosen to be worn, and all looked brilliant! Even the parks seemed full of purple (not intentionally but it's difficult to find purple in many other places)!

If you'd like to find out what others in the Sodexo company did to support the event, take a look at Sodexo UK & Ireland's Facebook Page. And if you took part yourself, send your pictures to our Twitter @EatSolent! We'd love to see!
