National Trivia Day - Foodie Facts


Nowadays it seems as though every other day is a national day for something so with the spirit of wanting to be in the know, we tracked down what national days we have to look forward to in January. We stumbled across National Trivia Day which is the 4th January so we found some interesting and a little weird foodie facts...

  • The fear of vegetables is called Lachanophobia
  • Almonds are a member of the peach family
  • The tall chef’s hat is called a toque
  • The strawberry is the only agricultural product that bears its seeds on the outside
  • Worcestershire sauce is made from dissolved fish
  • Carrots have zero fat content
  • Spam stands for Shoulder Pork and hAM
  • Goulash, a beef soup, originated in Hungary in the 9th century AD
  • In 1976, the first eight Jelly Belly® flavors were launched: Orange, Green Apple, Root Beer, Very Cherry, Lemon, Cream Soda, Grape, and Licorice
  • Rice is the staple food of more than one-half of the world’s population
