Student Happy Café Launches at Solent

On Monday 23rd January, Solent Health, in partnership with the SU, Sodexo and LIS’s Well Bees will be launching the first of its monthly Happy Cafés for students in the bridge area of the Spark’s Pod. We have all you need to know...

What is a Happy Café?
(Taken from actionforhappiness.org)
A Happy Café is a café that is part of the Happy Café Network created by members of the Action for Happiness movement. It is a place where those seeking happier lives for themselves and others can connect with each other over a coffee and learn science-based skills for enhancing psychological wellbeing. These skills are set out in the Ten Keys to Happier Living, which include developing good relationships, doing good for others, taking a positive approach, trying out new things and being comfortable with who you are.

While enjoying a free cup of tea or coffee, students can try out science-based skills to improve their psychological wellbeing such as:
  • Listenening to a relaxation or mindfulness podcast
  • Watching an inspirational short video
  • Speaking to a Well Bee and finding out what support they can access
  • Get a neck and shoulder massage
  • Join a guided mindfulness session led by Solent Health’s very own teacher
  • Do some mindful colouring
  • Write inspiring post-it pledges for a Happiness Wall
  • Carry out an act of kindness –writing notes for a SU supported local community charity
  • Join in a discussion on giving and doing things for others

Monday, 23rd January in the Spark Pod
